Federer Grabbed The Brightest Spotlight, but That’s Not All That Came out of Wimbledon

July 18, 2017 — Roger Federer crashed everybody’s part Sunday, when he won his record 8th Wimbledon. The spotlight was focused on him and his achievements, which they should have been. However, more was revealed over the fortnight, which ended Sunday. Here are the winners from 7 other categories. 

Women’s Singles — Garbine Muguruza, No. 14 seed

Ladies' Doubles — Ekaterina Makarova (RUS) and Elena Vesnina (RUS), No. 2 seeds

Gentlemen’s Doubles — Lukas Kubot (POL) and Marcelo M. (BRA), No. 4 seeds

Mixed Doubles — Jamie Murray (GBR) and Martina Hingis (SWI), No. 1 seeds

Boys’ Singles — Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (ARG), No. 8 seed

Girls’ Singles — Claire Liu (USA), No. 2 seed 

Boys' Doubles — J. Rodionov (AUT) and M. Vrensky (CZE), No. 3 seeds

Girls’ Doubles — O. Danilovic (SRB) and K. Juvan (SLO), unseeded
